It might be my age. It’s probably my age.
There’s a small chance that I’m just weirdly squeamish in some very particular ways (and, I’ll admit, weirdly not squeamish in others).
But y’all, I never experience as much pena ajena (a phrase in Spanish meaning that particular embarrassment you feel on behalf of someone else) as when I witness people taking selfies in public…like, in front of other people.
It’s especially embarrassing when they’re obviously trying to be sexy. I’d consider it less intimate and embarrassing if they were picking their noses or pooping out in the open.
The next level of this, I’ve discovered, is when they put said sexy selfies on their phone backgrounds…to admire themselves, I guess? I’ve seen this a lot on people’s phones.
I mean, it’s weird, right?
Anyway. People can do what they want.
But any selfies I take are definitely going to be done in hiding.
When I see this happening, I wonder how they could do it without being embarrassed themselves! I must admit, I took one of myself at home recently, on the rare occasion that I was wearing makeup, just in case a photo of me is needed for my obituary! L
I’m not one to take pictures of anything . But in my lifetime I constantly see people posting about theirselves in all kinds of situations. I always say to myself this person must be really bored and think they are beautiful or handsome but, you mainly see women doing it more than men.
