Time Off in Texas

a quick absence

Hey, y’all.

I’m in Texas! And my best-laid plans to get alllll my piecemeal work (it’s all piecemeal work, because that’s how the gig economy works) done before that just fell to the ground this past week, because I am one person with too many things to do that only I can do.

So I’ve decided to give myself a break, sort of. I’ll be in Texas until the 27th, and during that time, I’m going to take a Substack “vacation.” I’ve been writing at least twice a week since November, so I think, perhaps, it’s time for a short break.

In the meantime, here’s an assortment of pictures I took yesterday on our journey home to Victoria from Houston.

I love the mountains, but I do miss a nice Texas sunset, where you can see it go allll the way down.

The Houston skyline from the car. The size of the city amazes me every time, because it’s just, like, over an hour of driving pretty fast down 10-lane highways and you’re still in the city.
