I don’t know about y’all, but I love a good zombie movie (or series!). I haven’t seen ALL the big ones — The Walking Dead has so far escaped me — but I’m eagerly awaiting the next season of The Last of Us, and am still furious at Netflix for canceling the darkly hilarious Santa Clarita Diet starting Drew Barrymore, who I think would play me in a movie.
I also think World War Z by Max Brooks is one of the greatest books so far of the 21st century (not the movie); it was so good that I wish I could erase my memory of it so I could enjoy it for the first time again.
As a culture, we’ve obviously got a voracious appetite for zombies…more than the other way around. Because zombies, of course, aren’t real and ohgodohgodohgod please don’t let them ever be.
What are the themes? They’re certainly not mysterious. And we identify with both the zombies and the not-yet-zombies because they’re all us.
